Very widespread in Anglo-Saxon countries, the trend for afterworks appeared in France in the early 2000’s and is tending to gradually replace the traditional “office pots”.
This type of event has become essential in the life of a company.
Organized in relaxed places, outside the framework of the office and working hours, the afterworks allow your employees to share a friendly moment, promote their exchanges, and contribute to their well-being, thus improving their performance.
We have concocted a small checklist to help you organize this moment and make it memorable:
☑️ STEP #1: DETERMINE A DATE.
The afterwork is a moment conducive to relaxation and conviviality. It doesn’t have to be a compulsion.
Prefer an evening during the week (ideally Thursday) and avoid periods of leave in order to obtain a maximum of participants.
☑️ STEP #2: DETERMINE A LOCATION OR TYPE OF SITE YOU WOULD LIKE.
You can organize the afterwork in a bar, a lounge, a rooftop, a café, a restaurant or even, why not, in an atypical place, the important thing being to find a pleasant place, conducive to relaxation and close to the office.
Also make sure that this place is not too noisy in order to facilitate discussions between employees (or failing that, plan to reserve a private space).
It is recommended that you change locations regularly so that the event does not become a routine, but each time a moment of discovery.
You can conduct a survey of your employees to collect their desires and ideas.
☑️ STEP #3: CHOOSE A THEME OR AN ACTIVITY
You can add a touch of originality by adding a theme or activity to your afterwork.
You can combine your afterwork with activities such as:
– A culinary workshop
– An escape game
– A tournament of darts, ping-pong, table football, pétanque, …
– A karaoke evening
– A cultural visit
– An evening at the bowling alley
– A cultural visit
Or offer your employees a theme around the evening (Christmas, Halloween, etc.)
☑️ STEP #4: DETERMINE A NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS.
We recommend staying in a small committee for this type of event in order to favor exchanges between employees.

Once the date of the afterwork is known, we advise you to inform the participants as soon as possible in order to collect a maximum of positive responses.
The ideal is to warn people at least 15 days before the afterwork so that they can organize themselves.
